The plumb

A plumb is a kind of cylindric or pear-shaped piece of metal, which is fixed on a string,that is approximately two meter long. Because of the gravitational force of the earth the plumb always hangs vertically towards the earth.

With the help of the plumb, rods are positioned vertically, nadirs are plumbed or stones are centered.
